Scarlet’s first Thanksgiving as Shaun’s wife takes a turn when she arrives to find no seat for her at the dinner table. Her husband’s ex-girlfriend, Julissa, is sitting next to him, laughing while everyone else is already seated. The situation is worsened by her passive-aggressive mother-in-law, Angela, who insists on inviting Julissa to every family event.
Shaun had left early to help Angela, while Scarlet stayed behind to make pies. When she arrives at the dinner, she realizes there’s no seat for her, despite the table being full. Angela brushes it off, and Scarlet is left standing awkwardly, holding the pies.
Fed up, Scarlet sits on Shaun’s lap, forcing a smile to lighten the mood. The rest of the family is silent, and the tension is palpable. After dinner, Shaun apologizes for the seating issue, but Scarlet is still angry over the treatment by Angela and Julissa.
The next day, Scarlet vents online, receiving mixed responses. Some side with her, questioning Shaun’s passive role in handling his mother and ex. Others suggest she should have left as soon as she saw she was being excluded.
Ultimately, Scarlet realizes she needs to have a serious conversation with Shaun and confront Angela and Julissa to prevent future conflicts.
