Breaking: Huge tsunami hits Alaska following an undersea earthquake — residents urged to evacuate.

A massive tsunami has hit the southern coast of Alaska after a powerful undersea earthquake struck early this morning. The U.S. Geological Survey reported the earthquake at a magnitude of 8.2, prompting immediate tsunami warnings and forcing thousands of residents to evacuate low-lying areas.

Waves as high as 20 feet have been reported crashing into coastal towns, destroying boats, vehicles, and damaging critical infrastructure. Emergency teams are working quickly to help evacuate people and assess the damage.

Residents in Anchorage, Kodiak, and nearby communities were urged to seek higher ground as sirens sounded through the early hours. While no fatalities have been confirmed yet, several injuries and missing persons have been reported.

Authorities are also cautioning that aftershocks and additional waves may follow. The National Weather Service is closely monitoring the situation and has issued advisories along the Pacific coastline.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
