My spouse refused to assist me in purchasing household appliances, claiming that I could complete the tasks without them.

“You’ve Got Two Hands, Don’t You?”

Selena’s husband, Carl, refused to help buy appliances like a dishwasher, robot vacuum, or cooker, dismissing them as unnecessary. After years of being undervalued, Selena decided she’d had enough.

Selena inherited her grandmother’s house and spent her savings renovating it. Broke but hopeful, she asked Carl—who’d just received a bonus—for help with appliances to ease her burden. His response was dismissive: “You don’t need them. You’ve got two hands, don’t you?” Stunned and hurt, Selena realized he saw her more as a servant than a partner.

Furious, she resorted to a petty but impactful retaliation. She ruined Carl’s clothes with eggs and hid them in his car. When the unbearable stench drove him to investigate, Selena confronted him about his lack of respect and support. His excuses fell flat.

Finally, Selena took control of her life. She left Carl, filed for divorce, and moved on. Months later, she bought the appliances herself and found a new partner who valued and supported her. For the first time in years, Selena felt truly free.

Sometimes, realizing your worth requires drawing a line—and a little pettiness.
